1947년 이탈리아 트렌토에서 태어난 실비오 카타니는 이탈리아 베니스 미술 아카데미 회화과를 졸업한 후 현재까지 예술가이자 교육자로 활동해 왔다. 그는 1968년 트렌토에서의 첫 전시를 시작으로 이탈리아와 해외를 오가며 예술가로서 활발히 작품활동을 이어가고 있으며, 그래픽 디자인 및 회화 강사로 활동하고 이탈리아 교육부 예술위원회 국가 교육위원회장을 역임하기도 하였다. 1993년 이탈리아 문화부는 이탈리아의 예술 및 교육계에 대한 실비오 카타니의 탁월한 공헌을 인정하여 그에게 이탈리아 훈장을 수여한 바 있다.

작가이자 기획자이고 교육자인 그는 회화와 설치미술, 행위예술 등 미술 분야뿐 아니라 음악과 무용의 각본 및 안무에 이르기까지 종종 장르를 뛰어넘어 종합 프로젝트를 진행한다. 그의 작품은 재료의 상호성과 미적 편향에 대한 성찰을 기반으로 한다. 현재 실비오 카타니는 이탈리아 트렌토에 있는 로베레토 미술관의 부관장을 맡고 있다.

1960년 독일 하이델베르크에서 태어난 우도 라인은 영화, 사진, 회화, 설치 등 다양한 매체와 형식으로 국제적 활동을 활발히 펼치고 있다. 그는 1980~1990년대에 미국에 거주하며 예술 활동을 시작했다. 그는 당시 마이애미와 LA에서 영상 제작 프로젝트를 진행하며 촬영, 편집, 무대 설치 등 다양한 협업을 경험했다. 특히 미국에 머물면서 과거 뉴욕을 풍미하던 팝 아티스트들이 유행시킨 콜라주 양식을 접하며, 당시 작업했던 영상뿐만 아니라 이후에 시작한 회화 장르에 큰 영향을 받았다. 2000년도를 기점으로 독일을 넘어, 이탈리아, 프랑스, 뉴욕, 한국까지 전 세계에서 전시를 통해 입지를 다지기 시작했다.

우도 라인의 작품은 인물, 동물, 사물, 텍스트 등 이질적이고 다양한 이미지가 서로 뒤섞인 채 화면에서 조화를 이룬다. 그는 전 세계의 급격히 산업화되고 버려진 황폐화된 도시들을 여행하며, 현대인의 실상을 꼬집는 이야기들을 창조한다.

Silvio Cattani, born in 1947 in Trento, Italy, graduated from the Painting Department of the Venice Academy of Fine Arts and has since been active as an artist and educator. He began his artistic career with his first exhibition in Trento in 1968 and has since actively exhibited his work both in Italy and abroad. In addition to his career as an artist, he has taught graphic design and painting, and served as the National Education Committee Chair of the Italian Ministry of Education’s Arts Committee. In 1993, the Italian Ministry of Culture awarded Catani an Italian Order of Merit in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Italy's arts and education sectors.

Udo Rein, born in Heidelberg, Germany in 1960, is an internationally active artist working across various media and forms, including film, photography, painting, and installation. He began his artistic career in the 1980s and 1990s while living in the United States, where he embarked on video production projects in Miami and Los Angeles, gaining collaborative experience in shooting, editing, and set installation. During his time in the U.S., he encountered the collage style popularized by New York's pop artists of earlier decades, which significantly influenced his video work as well as the painting genre he later pursued.

Since the 2000s, Lein has established a global presence, exhibiting in Germany, Italy, France, New York, and South Korea. His works blend disparate and diverse images—figures, animals, objects, and text—in harmonious compositions. By traveling through rapidly industrialized and desolate cities around the world, he creates narratives that critique the reality of contemporary life.
